Going to festivals to fall in love only happens in movies and at Woodford.

What's more amazing than a super music collaboration, like Mumford and Sons ft The Temper Trap at this years Splendour in the Grass??... A brother/sister meal deal, that's what. Angus and Julia Stone serenaded Brisbane this weekend over three nights at The Tivoli and I was lucky enough to experience their greatness at their Friday show. They were nothing but phenomenal, accompanied by some of America's most talented musicians and featuring an incredibly large weeping willow decorated in fairy lights (very A + J). Not only that but, Angus explained the story behind chart topping hit Big Jet Plane, saying that he wrote it about a girl who he met (and fell for) at Woodford Folk Festival, earlier this year. What makes this more amazing is that rumour has it this lucky lass hails from Brisbane... jealous or what?!?!? As he shared his story with us, which sounded more like a scene out of a Hollywood movie, the female population of the audience swooned over every word, while the boys envied his abilities to make more than 200 hearts throb all at once. All in all, Julia is a musical goddess and Angus is a beautiful being, beard and all.

Burberry RTW Spring/Summer 2011

Metallic pants, trench coats with studded shoulders and leather sleeves and an array of pop coloured purses and belts. If this doesn't yell F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S, I just don't know what will. Early this morning, Burberry closed the 2011 London Fashion Week with an absolute bang. Models were sporting leather, ruffles, studs, exotic materials and all while rocking the classic trench. Vibrant selections of colours were used throughout the collection, such as aqua, fuchsia, lime green and pastel pink, however animal prints were thrown into the mix on many of the cropped jackets and mini dresses.
Once again Christopher Bailey has given his consumers a fresh and young edge to the iconic trench coat and has teamed it with some of the most stunning cocktail dresses and pants (Ahhhh victory! I was jumping out of my skin, these pants were so cool).
The collection is a mix between biker chick and Serena Van Der Woodsen and here are some of my favourite looks from the collection, including my super favourite look from all of LFW, lime green leather jacket, citrine coloured top and leather pants. Enjoy!

Crushin' on You: Ruby Rose

With those fresh and striking features and that super cool 'do, how could you not love Australia's most famous VJ, Ruby Rose. Since being picked to be the host of Australia's MTV, she has made a real name for herself in various fields and industries including modelling, fashion designing and acting... (I know what you're thinking and yes, Wonder Woman comes to mind). She has recently launched her debut capsule collection for Australian label and a w&k favourite, Milk and Honey. The collection includes graphic singlets and t-shirts and an assortment of denim pieces from sandblasted and ripped cut-off's to light wash jeans and with festival season just around the corner, where better to look than here. Below is a little snippet of Miss Rose's collection, enjoy!

Bring out the milk and cookies, Santa is coming to town.

There is just over 3 days till the Burberry Porsum SS2011 Show is streamed live from London Fashion Week and I feel like a 6-year-old waiting for Santa on Christmas Eve!! The extent of my excitement cannot be summed up in words and has become unbearable for my family and friends who haven't heard me speak about anything else all week. Since I can remember, Burberry has been my utmost favourite brand and every time I'm in QueensPlaza in the Brisbane city (no matter how late I am to work, sorry Allie), I detour to the Burberry section where I dream of one day owning the iconic trench myself. The effortless elegance of Christopher Bailey's designs really strike a chord with me so there is no wonder that he has been a long time crush of mine. I'm not too sure what it is, but there is just something about a man who can make a woman look amazing in a beige coat and baggy sweaters that really sends my heart on a beating frenzy. However, Mr Bailey doesn't just stop there. Since yesterday he has taken over the official Burberry Twitter account, tweeting all day long in the lead up to the big show in London... What more could you want in a man, seriously?

"Hometown Glory"

Sass and Bide have opened a brand new store in New Zealand, in a area that is very close to my heart, having grown up just around the corner. The store is located in the uber-cool suburb of Ponsonby and opened its doors to the public in late August. With the store completely decked out in a classic S&B interior and surrounded by some of the coolest cafes and restaurants in Auckland, the newest addition to the S&B family is set to stay for a very long time.

Alexander Wang - No longer the Prince of Darkness.

I have previously confessed my undying love for all things Alexander Wang and his collection at New York Fashion Week this year, is no exception. He has given me yet another reason to want to be 'all up in his bizz', so to speak. With no sight of a black tone in his colour palette, Wang opted for a more fresh and clean approach with all models donning crisp white and pretty pastel garments. There were also some of the most amazing silk pants I have ever seen, so now I can die a happy girl!

For all you Brisbane-ites, the collection is a bit of a delightful mix between the infamous mums of Ascot and the Japanese Summer... divine, I know!!

Note to self: Shopping should never bring you heartache.

For the last few weeks, I have been on the look out (the girls I work with would say I was on the prowl) for the perfect pair of high-waisted pants, preferably khaki in colour and white denim cut-offs, to add to my Spring/Summer wardrobe. However, I feel as if I am not being rewarded for my efforts. The harder I look, the more tiresome and time consuming the quest becomes and no one should ever, ever feel like that when searching for new additions to add to their wardrobe. Which makes me then wonder, if this is the reason designers pick up those scissors and measuring tapes in the first place? Because they are all too frustrated with not being able to find the right shape, colour or size? Whether or not this is the case, I still envy their creative and constructive talents with every fibre in my body! What I would give to make my perfect pair of pants!!
As Fashion Week in both New York and London begin, fingers crossed I am given copious amounts of gorgeous pants to marvel at... for the sake of my sanity at least.

Crushin' on You: Bambi Northwood-Blyth

Definitely one of w&k's favourite models at the moment. With her thick and luscious brows and her 'to-die-for' set of lips, Bambi has conjured up some serious fashion street cred. Having spreads in Russh Australia to Harper's Bazaar and being the face of the current Mink Pink and Cue campaigns, it's no wonder she's forecasted to be one of the most popular models this season. With a name like Bambi and a face like that... I have a feeling she's going to be gracing the pages of our favourite magazines and catwalks for a very long time.

"She's got the body of a goddess"

You know you've made it big when one of the largest retail chains orders mannequins based on your body.

This is what High Street giants Zara have recently done, opting to stock their windows with mannequins based on Agnyess Deyn's image. The Brit model is often seen on the catwalk for many designers including my favourite (possibly her most famous campaign) Burberry.
It's clear that Aggy and that bleached crop of hers are continuing to make waves on the fashion scene.

I hope the new Zara store in Sydney gets these 'it' girl mannequins in so I can see them myself!!

Summer... What I like to call, Charcoal Season.

Savaii, Samoa 2008

I know we've only just entered Spring, but this sudden dose of balmy weather has got me all excited for next season.. summer! A section of the year in which I like to call "Charcoal Season", merely due to the fact that I seem to grow increasingly dark between the months of December and February.

Maxi dresses, Ray Ban aviators, Zimmermann bikinis, trips to the coast with friends and family and Palmers Cocoa Butter are always at the top of my essentials list to a successful summer.
However with summer, comes the expectation to look amazing in your latest Zimmermann 'kini. So it's off to the gym I go... or at least a walk around the block, it'll be brisk I promise.

The Young and the Restless...

Vogue Australia: October 2010
The latest issue of Vogue Australia is out now with gorgeous Queensland girl Codie Young on the cover. Young, who was scouted by Vivien's Model Management at her local shopping centre, is already making a huge mark on the industry, including an editorial in last months issue with another Sunshine State gem, Catherine McNeil.
As an added bonus you also get a free Vogue tote. Do I hear beach bag anyone??

We're the three best friends that anyone could have...

There is no denying how much I love collaborations. From Kate Moss and Topshop to the four men who have changed the meaning of a hangover, Alan, Phil, Stu and Doug. But my latest favourite is seen in the most recent campaign for Alexander Wang's Fall 2010 Collection. It features one of my favourite models Abbey Lee and music by the amazing band The XX.

From the first time I laid eyes on Wang's debut collection, I knew instantly that he would become one of my favourite designers. With collaborations with one of walter & kitty's girl crushes, Erin Wasson and now Abbey Lee, it's obvious that he can go no where but up (sorry about the Bieber reference... it's a force of habit).

w&k loves A. Wang.

I'd like to be more approachable, not less weird.

God bless Chloe Sevigny. Really hit the nail on the head there. How the hell do you measure weirdness anyway?? Food for thought people.

Blogs are fun and I like fun things.

You say, "wow you're making a blog" and I say "how original, right??".

Although very much a mainstream hobby for most these days, blogging is a fun way to tell those few people (most likely your mum and dad who feel sorry for you that you have no followers who actually give a donkey's arse what you think), some of the things you think is pretty sweet on the streets at the moment and I dig that...Hence the birth of walter and kitty. A way for me to pretend like I'm some sort of famous identity. A bit of a mix between the writing royalty of Carrie Bradshaw, the anonymous talents of Banksy and the idea that I look a lot like Beyonce. Now who doesn't want that.
However don't let that self-description fool you! Take in mind that I'm still very much a rookie when it comes to cyber-expressionism, so be delicate with the judging. We all had to start somewhere ;)
